Hey, 2012!

"Greatest Story Ever Told" Junior Prom is approaching! Start flirting NOW and pick up that cutie in your math class!

Monta Vista 2012 Junior Prom
Location: Corinthian Event Center
196 North 3rd Street
San Jose, CA 95112
(Click here for a google map)
When: Saturday, April 9th
Time: 7:30PM - 10:30PM

Bids (aka tickets, not auction bids!)
Bids go on sale next week; here are the dates and prices.
Wednesday, March 16th - Friday, March 18th, $40/single, $70/couple
Wednesday, March 23rd - Friday, March 25th, $40/single, $75/couple
Wednesday, March 30th - Friday, April 1st, $45/single, $85/couple
Emergency Bids Sales: Monday April 4th, $50/single, $95/couple
**When you buy your bid, you have the chance of receiving a freebie (such as a class lanyard, restaurant giftcard, spa discount, and more!)

*UPDATE: Group Bids!
If you're going to JP as a group of guys or girls, pay as a group (3 or more people) and pay only $40 per person! That's cheaper than a single bid, so grab a group of friends and go!

Permission Slip (scroll down to download, or check School Loop)
Unlike Homecoming or Winter Ball, ALL students must get a permission slip signed if they wish to attend Junior Prom. You cannot purchase a bid unless you present a completed permission slip -- make sure you get these signed! If you are not hosting a student from another school, ignore the "Date's Agreement" section of the form. (That section is only for dates from other schools. If you are going with someone from Monta Vista, both of you need to fill out a separate form.)

Photo Lines
Although the dance starts at 7:30PM, doors are open for picture taking at 7:00PM. Photographs will be taken on a first-come-first-serve basis. Options for photo packages will be included with your bid. Please choose your package ahead of time to make the process quicker and avoid a long wait!
For the Lifetouch info sheet, click here!

Tuxedos
Along with your bid, you will receive a $40 off coupon to Tuxedo Wearhouse. Also we will have students walking around in tuxes throughout the next few weeks, so you can get a coupon from them as well. Even if your date hasn't picked out her dress color first, please visit Tuxedo Warehouse as soon as you can to get fitted, then come back later to choose your color when you pick up the tux.
Tuxedo Wearhouse (NOT "Men's Wearhouse")
1600 Saratoga Ave.
San Jose, CA 95129
(Walk through Any Mountain, inside Westgate Mall)

Coursages and Boutonnieres
An order form for Coursages and Boutonnieres is attached to your bid. (Or download it here). A rose set is $25 and a carnation set is $20. We will give more information about delivery soon!

Limos
This is the website for the Limo Company that came to school on 3/18, Le Grande Affair. Ask for a discount as an MV student!

Favors (traditionally a giveaway at the end of Junior Prom)
After polling you guys about whether we should spend money on favors or allocate the money that would be spent on favors to a charity instead, the consensus was donating to charity! $3 from every bid purchased will be donated to the American Red Cross to provide relief to those affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. If you have any questions/concerns feel free to email us at montavista2012@gmail.com.

Hosting students from other schools
Like any dance you will need to fill out a separate form to host someone from another school (it will need to be signed by parents and school administration of his/her school). The form must be turned in when you buy your bid! The form is attached below (it is the same form that everybody needs to fill out).

Hey 2012! Want some cookie dough to eat (raw or cooked) during the ever stressful finals week, or perhaps with your family over the holiday break? Or do you just want to just help your class raise money? Either way, look below!

To buy cookie dough:
1) Fill out the online order form (below). You will receive a receipt of your order through email, and then you should pay in a box in ASB or in the rally court during lunch on the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week (11/22 and 11/23).
2) Pick up your cookie dough the week before finals (the week of Dec. 6th), specific times/dates TBA.
OR
1) Buy from any 2012 seller (your friend or a class officer), and pay them by 11/23.
2) They will give you your cookie dough the week of Dec. 6th. (NOTE: if you buy through another seller, we will give the seller your cookie dough-- you must pick it up through them!)

To sell cookie dough:
1) Grab an order form (brochure and white order form) from either your history class, the ASB office, or from a class officer. Prices are on the form
2) Sell to your friends, family, neighbors, and parents' coworkers!
3) Turn in your order forms WITH your money to the rally court during lunch Monday and Tuesday (11/22 and 11/23). The absolute last chance for you to turn in your order form will be to the ASB office on Wednesday, 11/24, at the end of the school day (NOTE: this is flip block day, so turn them in before school-- we will pick up any order forms as soon as school ends).
4) Pick up your cookie dough the week of Dec. 6th (specific times/dates TBA).

All checks are to be made payable to Monta Vista Class of 2012.

Why should you sell? Because we have some pretty awesome prizes!

If you sell over 20 boxes of cookie dough, you get $30 off of your junior prom bid (single or couple).
If you are the TOP seller, you get $40 off of your junior prom bid (single or couple) total-- plus bragging rights of being the top seller of this school year :)

Thanks, and good luck selling!

FREE SAT PRACTICE EXAM! 05/25/2010
0 Comments

For our next fundraiser, we will be teaming up with SAT test prep program Ivy Insiders.
Ivy Insiders is an SAT test prep program that has Ivy League Undergrads return to their hometowns over the summer and help kids beat the SAT. Many other SAT test prep classes hire students from that have SAT scores in the top 10%, but the students hired for Ivy Insiders all have SAT scores in the
top 1% of the nation, making them much more qualified.
-Though the students teaching the classes are proven to be more effective at improving SAT scores, the cost of the class is kept low - nearly half the cost of other SAT test prep programs (such as Princeton Review). $599 will cover the cost of the sessions to be held this summer in mid-July and August, and 2012 will receive about 10% of sales! More information on enrolling in these sessions is to come.

-For now, if you would like to see what Ivy Insiders is all about, there is a free SAT practice exam this Saturday, May 29th from 1:00PM - 5:00PM, in the building above My Art School on S. De Anza Blvd***. This full-length practice exam will be proctored by Ivy Insiders instructors and MV alumni Tarun Galagali, Sophia Liou, and Annie Wu. A free analysis of SAT strengths and weaknesses and a study plan to improve scores by 200 - 300 points will also be provided to all participants at no extra charge. To register for this free exam and see if Ivy Insiders is right for you, visit http://ivyinsiders.com/search/details/7594

***(The building has a bronze, metallic-looking roof and is on the border between San Jose and Cupertino. It can be easily spotted from the McDonald's on S. De Anza Blvd. The classroom itself is on the second floor of the building.).
